Nora's First Trip to the ER

My poor baby. On Friday Nora woke up with a nasty cough and a drippy nose. Another cold?! But as the day went on I knew it was different. Her breathing was raspy, labored and fast. And she didn't want to play much all day, just snuggle. So we went to see the doctor so that we wouldn't have to go to urgent care over the weekend(again, the things we try to plan!). He said she had a bit of pnuemonia and prescribed an antibiotic. He said that the first thing we would notice after a couple of doses would be her personality. Unfortunately on Saturday Nora woke up with a fever that only got higher throughout the day. She didn't leave Allen or my laps all day. Her eyes were glassy and sleepy. But the scariest thing was that she wouldn't eat or drink. She had maybe two bites of Rice Krispies and a 1/2 of a Twizzler, and, at most, an ounce of liquid. We tried pushing any type of liquid ~ milk, juice, water, popsicles ~ in any type of cup ~ bottle, sippy, "big girl", straws. And she straight up refused. So at 5:30,after no pee diapers all day, we took her to the ER. We were there until midnight. She was dehydrated and they had to give her fluids through an IV. It was so hard to watch them poke her. They had to try three times, and call the special IV team, before they found a vein to work. She has bruises on her arms and hand where they tried. She fell asleep on Allen as soon as the IV was in. Only to be wisked away to have chest xrays taken. She was such a trooper. But it was really hard on me as the momma to watch. I just wanted to be able to hold her and make her better. Our pediatrician was the doc on call and fought for us to be able to go home and not be admitted. We were so thankful! Today she was doing much better. Still a lot slower than her normal go-go-go self, but she drank quite a bit today. We'll have a follow up appointment tomorrow with our pediatrician. Even sick she is the sweetest baby in the world.
I also wanted to say how blessed we feel to have so many friends to call when we are in need. So many were willing to drop what they were doing to watch Joliana for us. Thanks to Miss Katie G. who was here about 15 minutes after we sent out a text looking for help and took did our nursery service at church this morning!!!
